The Windows Server Administrator position focuses on loading, configuring, updating, patching, and troubleshooting Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard and Enterprise editions (64-bit), to include associated 3rd party applications and utilities. Server roles and features include Active Directory, DFS, DHCP, DNS, File Sharing, Routing, Group Policy management, and IIS/Web server at a minimum. on various laptop, PC, engineering workstation, and server-class hardware to support end-user computing, high-performance computing (HPC), file server, and/or domain controller roles and functions.
Additional technical skills and responsibilities include the following:
- Administration of Linux-based servers and high-performance computing (HPC) cluster systems;
- Network administration of switches, government-approved network encryption appliances supporting CAT-5 and fiber-based Ethernet networks, and voice-over-IP (VoIP) servers;
- Computing hardware installation, troubleshooting and repair of laptop, PC, engineering workstation, and server-class hardware; and
- Lead technical efforts to migrate to Windows Server 2012 and Windows 7/8 clients.
This position will also be responsible for ensuring all systems operate in accordance with applicable corporate and government computer security policies; preparing for and participating in periodic formal computer security inspections and audits of secure information systems; and documenting technical processes and procedures so that less experienced team members can successfully execute technical tasks.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in computer science, computer technology, or management information systems.
- Windows, networking and/or computer security certifications desired.
- Linux-associated certifications a plus as well.

years overall experience providing hands-on Windows Server 2003/2008 standard and/or Enterprise editions to include OS roles and features to include Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and security policy management support if college degree is CS/CIT/MIS/IT related, 4
years if degree is in other area.
- Desire experience supporting Linux-based systems to include OS features and utilities such as NIS, NFS, Samba, Autofs, Kickstart/PXE, Package management, PAM, Auditd, SELinux, SSH, and GRUB.
- Additional experience with networking equipment such as switches and routers, VoIP servers and instruments, and/or computer security measures is also desired
