Project Leader, ISR and Sensing Systems

The UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) Program Office at the United Technologies Research Center invites experienced candidates to apply for a Project Leader (PjL) position responsible for the development and execution of a portfolio of projects in sensing, wireless, and PHM technologies, with application to commercial aircraft or Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems in support of product and technology development for UTC Aerospace Systems.
UTC Aerospace Systems, a combination of the former Hamilton Sundstrand and Goodrich businesses, designs, manufactures and services integrated systems and components for the aerospace and defense industries. UTC Aerospace Systems supports a global customer base with significant worldwide manufacturing and customer service facilities.
UTRC is the central technology development and innovation center for United Technologies Corporation (UTC), where enabling world-class technologies are developed for a wide range of next-generation UTC products.
As Project Leader, the successful candidate will be expected to:
Create and lead multidisciplinary projects and teams focused on the development of innovative technologies to drive advancement of next generation ISR, Sensing, Analytical, Wireless and Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) products and components. Projects will lead to significant product and system-level benefits such as improved performance, reduced size or weight, extended durability, lower cost and other enhanced mission capability and performance benefits for commercial and military aircraft.
Provide strategic guidance and create technical and project opportunities in the area of technology advancing innovation of aircraft and ISR systems and components through the development of technology roadmaps.
Define technology gaps and value propositions, providing direct input into UTAS program office development plans
Identify opportunities for external research & development (ERD) and provide leadership in partnering with Department of Defense (DoD) agencies to acquire external contracts.
Serve as a key interface between UTRC, UTAS, other aerospace business units and university resources.
Mentor principal investigators and individual contributors on projects; assuring technical excellence and rigor in project execution.
Demonstrate superior project management and communication skills and be able to provide timely, accurate and detailed reports and presentations to senior management and functional teams.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
