Air System Design & Integration (ASDI) is seeking a qualified candidate to support internal air system definition, modeling and analysis. Specific
job
responsibilities include:
Analytically model the engine internal flow system to integrate the module level flow systems and perform system analyses to define and quantify
Turbine Cooling and Leakage (TCLA) and TCOOL distributions
Main shaft bearing axial loads
Component blow off loads
Internal cavity environment conditions
Bearing compartment buffer flow and temperature
Sensitivities to component changes, engine match, tolerances, etc.
Cooling air supply systems, pipes, and metering areas to meet engine requirements
Work with Module Centers to define configurations that meet system requirements, including integrating flow models to support thermal analyses
Track internal flow system status versus systems requirements (TCLA, loads, cavity air temperatures, etc.)
Conduct trade studies using mechanical and aerodynamic configuration alternatives
Ensure component rig/engine test preparation includes the proper instrumentation, health criteria, hardware assessment, and test plan to support the program secondary flow, clearance & heat transfer requirements
Coordinate internal flow system related component limits (cavity temperatures, loads, etc.) with the Module Centers and establish flow systems that adhere to the limits
Support testing as required to ensure that the rig/engine meets the health criteria and provides definition for design systems configuration or development
Provide timely data analysis to influence engine program design modifications and follow-on builds
