EHRO is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S;) intern to assist the EH&S;
manager
with a variety of functions. At the end of the assignment, the student will gain an understanding of the EH&S; functions in a unionized shop floor environment and will gain knowledge of EH&S; management systems and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) standard practices. The student will learn how to implement various EH&S; programs to comply with company and government regulations. The student will interact with all levels of management, including hourly workforce and union officials.
Responsibilities include:
Monitoring and evaluating operations including the recommend use of protective measures and equipment.
Providing EH&S; awareness information and conduct training.
Participating and assisting the EH&S; council sub-committee teams.
Interfacing with union representatives.
Implementing various EH&S; programs to comply with company and government regulations.
Conducting industrial hygiene monitoring.
Updating programs such as hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, hazardous communication, radiation, respirator, and powered industrial
vehicles
.
Assisting with Process Risk Analysis (PRA) and prevention plans.
The student must be working towards a BA/BS degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or related field. A GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred. The student should have the ability to work with all Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills are a must.
This is a Summer internship located in East Hartford, CT.
