This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of machining processes, and the ability to work with tight tolerances.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate surface grinding machines to grind flat surfaces of metal workpieces to specified dimensions and surface finish Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine grinding requirements Select appropriate grinding wheels, dressing tools, and coolant systems for each job Mount workpieces securely on the grinding machine table using clamps, magnetic chucks, or other fixtures Adjust machine controls to set grinding speeds, feeds, and depths of cut Monitor grinding operations to ensure workpieces meet dimensional and surface finish specifications Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect workpieces for accuracy and quality Make necessary adjustments to machine settings and tooling to maintain part conformity and optimize production efficiency Perform routine maintenance tasks on grinding machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining preferred Proven experience as a Surface Grinder Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment Job Type:
